FOUNDATION TRAINING INTO THE CORRECT SET UP AND USE OF A THEODOLITE AND AUTOMATIC LEVEL
This course is designed to teach the correct way to set up and use a theodolite and automatic optical dumpy level when utilised in industry, to achieve the required precise results and accurate readings. It is also designed to apply further knowledge and practical use of this equipment with existing users. Our trainers will develop individuals’ skills in a theory and practical situation.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Have product and theoretical knowledge of using a Theodolite and Automatic Dumpy Level.
- Understand how to set up a Theodolite correctly.
- Describe the functions and uses of the Theodolite.
- Gain an understanding of measurement of angles, vertical and horizontally.
- How to check levels with an automatic dumpy level.
- Be able to perform on an on-site calibration test/check of the dumpy level prior to use.
- Stadia lines and how to estimate distance when using a dumpy level.
- Understanding leveling accuracy and the double leveling run/close.
- Demonstrate how to use the Theodolite in a practical situation.

- Introduction to Angles and the terminology
- Procedure for measurement of horizontal angle

- Leveling setup and checking the onsite calibration of a dumpy level

- Taking care of your theodolite and dumpy level
- Introduction to Total Stations

& Requirements
Participants must have the ability to read, write and understand English. On the day you will need to bring your Theodolite or Automatic Dumpy Level and Tripod along with PPE (Hi Viz and Safety Boots)
